Natural Hair Rocks
But today's society and media doesn't think so.
Media:
Primetime Television
In today's primetime television shows we see powerful women such as Oliva Pope, Cookie Lyons, and Annalise Keating kicking-butt in male dominate fields; however, a striking similarity with each of them is that they don't wear their natural hair in a professional atmosphere. This has helped enforce the stereotype that natural hair is equivalent to weakness and unprofessionalism while straight hair is equivalent to power and professionalism.

A powerful lawyer with straight hair
Annalise Keating

A successful Business owner with straight hair
Cookie Lyon
Criminal with natural hair

These three shows have been praised because of how it showcases such powerful and successful black women. However, these women are only showcased in their careers with straight hair. When they have their natural hair it's in a time of weakness, fear, and sorrow. This enforces the stigma and bad reputation that natural hair gets in the public eye.
